Anyone know any more about this? Was it a climber?

Sadly, yes. The man had just finished belaying a climber on Projectiles. Our understanding is that the climber had finished, and the belayer was stuck by a falling rock while still on the belay ledge. The belay ledge there is 50-60 feet below the rim. I'm with PCSO SAR and just got home from the body recovery.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, climbing partners and friends. I'll leave it to his family or climbing partners to identify him.

No words. Awful. Such a low objective hazard place, one expects. I didn't even bring a helmet to that crag.

John will be missed, I have nothing but happy memories. John would always approach others with a smile and a helpful hand. He was full of wisdom yet always gathering knowledge. He was always a gentleman and sometimes acted as a mentor to those with less years. He had a deep love for the outdoors and formed great friendships with many of us.
I am proud to have called John my friend, shared stories, trails and campfires...

Rest in peace...
