Temporary Closure for Nesting Raptors

Due to the presence of nesting raptors, the following rock climbing areas are temporarily closed: Slatanic Area, Rattlesnake Buttress, Margaret Thatcher Spire, The Stepping Stones, The Bulkhead, The Dunce Cap, and Commissioner’s Buttress.

The Joshua Tree National Park Superintendent's Compendium states that:
1. Vegetation is not allowed to be used as an anchor.
2. Only neutral or rock colored bolt hangers are allowed.

Description

This is way up canyon, on the left. Probably across from the Pyramid; maybe even beyond.

Getting There

Hike up Rattlesnake Canyon until the canyon is choked by big boulders; keep on hiking, past the turn off gully for Valley of the Kings. Soon you will see the Udi Buttress on the right; it has a reddish hue to it, with a suicide-like grey slab just beyond it (The Udi Slabs).
