I was at TWall yesterday and thief(s) went through our car; they checked every pocket, glove box, trunk, etc. Nothing taken because there was nothing to take. Nothing broken; we always leave trunk and doors unlocked; windows down enough to reach in.

A local climber told us that there has been regular break-ins for the past 3 weeks. If you leave your doors locked, they'll use crowbars to get in. They'll take anything of interest to them (don't leave your beer or cans of Off, seriously :). Some one from out of state had all their electronic devices stolen this past week.

It looks like the normal irregular thievery at TWall has become a regular thing once again.

The route in it's entirety.
didn't this happen in the red a long while ago, and a group of climbers set up a bait car then beat the shit out of the perp? Greg G

Sort of. Yes on the stakeout, no on the beating the shit. Climbers did chase the perps up the rode while waving machetes, though.

How about one of those battery powered wildlife cameras to capture the images of them.

I'm with y'all on the stake out . . . other than I'd rather be climbing, but I'll sacrifice a day if it makes T-Wall safe again. CraigS.

Ghillie suit + shotgun would probably fix it. Get dirty south on it. In all serious though I never thought the breakins stopped. We always had a box trailer we'd put our stuff in when we went to T-Wall from NC and left doors unlocked and that was 8 years ago. Yonkonian

I was broken into in the mid eighty's at Suck Creek and then again at Yellow creek AL. when it was legal. I remember T Wall locals telling me to place a few bullets or shotgun shells on the dash, leave it unlocked& stash everything in the woods. This goes back to the early days, It's a rural southern bad habit!

I was at TWall friday too. We were the beige car parked on the right side and there were two other cars parked facing toward the river. I didnt see anyone else climbing the whole time. We were climbing at orange blossom. I dont think anyone went through our car but there was nothing in there anyway.

I dont get it! Its not like its an obvious place to steal shit! Its in the middle of nowhere. The only people who would do it are people going out there for that reason. I have a game camera and I think Im gonna put it up!

Stray dog found in rural Alabama w severe mange. T...
An empty, dented 4wd pickup with farming, hunting, or dixie flag-related decorations and the appropriate combination of beer cans and shotgun shells in the bed is certainly much safer than the stickered sportswagons and crossover SUVs that you often see parked at TWall and elsewhere.

This situation will never improve. As CDC says.....it's a real bad habit, common of the backwoods southerner, to dabble in things that require trips to pawn shops or other merchandise exchange venues.

Just don't be an easy target.

You don't know shit wabbit!

You need to get low key... like a little black hatchback, beat up, with all the hubcaps gone.

Total stealth. Like batman.

Don't throw me in the briar patch!
