Tuolumne tagline vs double ropes

I'm heading Tuolumne at the end of the months and it seems for a safe retreat for most routes need full rope length rappels.

I don't have twin/doubles but just a single 9.6 and my partner has a similar sized rope as well. I climbed with two full sized ropes once before and was not a huge fan because of rope drag/weight. So I am debating if I should buy a small tagline (7/8 mm) to carry up with us and then just pull out for rappels or just suck it up and use the two full sized ropes.

What would work best for Tuolumne?

A single 70m gets you off 90-100% of all routes some way or another despite what any guidebook says. Many are walk off. Enjoy your trip.

"... for a safe retreat ..."

When for a possible retreat, I bring a tag line which then usually does not come out of the bag it seems.

Be sure to study up on the issues with tag lines.

(Mine is 6 mm static which is a little more demanding in terms of careful use.)

Which routes are you thinking of in particular? I have climbed a lot there and am struggling to think of routes that had mandatory double rope rappels.

If you already have a 9.6 single..get a 6,7 or 8mm static tagline. You will use it, maybe not so much this trip, but in the Valley for sure.Or the Desert,or...

A 65m x 7mm is pretty light and not to $$..you can go 75m as well

Thanks guys, decided to go with the tag line.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
