TR is just kiddin... his larger then normal sized ass only drills TR Anchor bolts in CT these days lol.... but i put it up so you and others would see it and hopefully respect the request. Also I'm going to get in there early tomorrow afternoon with the chainsaw and take care of that new tree that fell on the temple wall and hopefully can clean and send that proj underneath it too so I won't need to post that one as closed ;-) either!

what is the rationale/justification for a closed boulder project? What if I climb it and don't tell a soul. Is that against the rules?

No rules... just respect. I put in the time to find the area and document it publicly and am asking for you and others to stay off my project, respectfully.

You CAN go climb on it... you can even send and claim the FA. It would be matter of disrespect to me. I'd certainly take it personally since the only reason this area is public is because of my hard work and sharing it with you on this site. Same goes with other areas like West Rocks Climbing. If I took the time to find clean/equip it and you don't have any respect for my requests, then basically what can I say... you're a low life.

In sandbox terms, you'd be the kid I invited to the sand box, who once arrived, stole the toy I was playing with. Wouldn't leave a nice impression on the rest of us would it? I'd have to drag you out of the sand box, kick your ass, take my toys back, and fu*k up your toy and make sure you don't ever want to come back. LOL.

If the sandbox analogy doesn't work, I would point out how there's about 100 other FA's in the area (of all ranges) that were not requested to be left alone and are totally open. So you must would really have to be one lazy shortsighted climber to pull this move.

So you'd be disrespected within community, your lack of integrity as a human being would be exposed and, at least in this case, you would be jeopardizing your future access to new areas in CT, not to mention pissing off the person who works to secure climbing access in your area. Rantover.

If ur just looking for some new proj's for yourself and friends in the area I'd be stoked to point you to some other great lines yet to go.

I guess I'm confused by the desire to "own" the FA. It makes a little more sense to me with sport routes but even then... I could never imagine myself officially red tagging a route, even if I put in a tremendous amount of work to open it, and I don't fully understand the motivation to do so.

The sandbox analogy doesn't work for me because you don't own the boulder like you own the toy. Also the threats of violence seem a little excessive, as does the claim that my "lack of integrity as a human being" would be exposed if I climbed this boulder. In my mind, legitimate issues of communal respect wouldn't require so many threats of violence and exile to enforce said respect.

That being said, I appreciate the work you put in to clean lines and publicize this place, and I think it is probably one of the best bouldering areas in CT. I'd love to be pointed in the direction of some open projects.

Any line you see that's not documented on MP is an FA waiting to happen... Almost every bit of stone out there has an FA on it waiting. Just use your imagination. What kinda proj are you looking for, grade, aspect, height, etc? Please record any FAs on here though so we can keep track. I know a lot of folks have climbed here but very few have posted FAs.

The No Fall Wall has plenty of other lines on it for you to get your FA on. As for my motivations... its been my long standing project of mine and I don't want to have someone who read about it on the internet go climb it and claim it, so ego baby.

The alternative is that I could have not shared the info on the area (what I did own at the time) until I was done with all my projects in which case you, and countless others, would never have gotten the chance to climb here to begin with. See my point? I'm sure you'd prefer this course of action rather then the alternative I just stated....

Folks want to complain about these type of request then I will stop sharing information.

Sandbox stuff was clearly a joke so... loosen up a bit, eh? Not everything on the interwebs shld be taken literally. And the toy is the beta that I shared with you. As for the philosophy discussion behind it all, forum that sh*t. Plenty of opinions on there bout this practice.

Just went by West Rock today to find the only other project in the state I've requested closed full of tick marks and chalk and the open project that I bolted specifically for others to have to have something didn't have any chalk on it. Pretty fu*king lame. Whoever you are, you just ruined the party for everyone... I will no longer be publicizing any new areas until all my projects are complete. Selfish climbers...
