About 2-3 pitches of actual ice climbing, upper sections are ice steps. Exit the dike onto a slab and slob up to the summit of Mt. Colden.

Down climbing is not recommended due to large amount of foot traffic below. But not impossible. Otherwise hike/ski out on the established trail.

Got skis? Conditions permiting ski in and out.

About 5 mile hike to Avalanche Lake from the LOJ.

Cant miss it from Avalanche Lake. The most obvious dike on Mt.Colden.

  • ****Stay OFF the ski trail if hiking in*****

Screws. Rock pro in thin conditions.
