Readers of trad section may be interested in new web site of one who first coined the term "traditional" in old Ascent article,"Tricksters and Traditionalists." I have constructed a non-commercial website containing several of my articles and pictures appearing in publications of the Sierra Club, American Alpine Club, Climbing, Mountain, Summit and other sources. See tomhiggins.net.

For those with a historical bent, here are reflections on trends and changing styles (including a 2006 update on "Tricksters" discussing, in part, some style issues for areas around Boulder); articles on first ascents; tributes to period characters and climbers past (including Bob Kamps of Longs Peak fame); fiction; climbing tips; selected postings to rock climbing sites; and dialog (as time permits) with e-mailers to the site.

For those unfamiliar with my climbs or articles, I have first and first free ascents of possible interest beginning in the 1960s, especially on the cliffs of Yosemite, Tahquitz Rock, Sierra peaks and domes, Pinnacles National Monument, SW desert and Needles of South Dakota.

I liked this site...well worth checking it out if you enjoy climbing history.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
