One thing I've learned over the years: bring an inner tube when out in canyon country. I've been shut down by the weather on several occasions, most commonly in the slots around White Canyon. But if you have an inner tube, you can do tubing runs through canyons that are normally dry creek beds (with appropriate cautions, of course). You may not be able to go canyoning that day, but there's nothing like floating White Canyon! I should dig up those photos . . . .
