Tieton beta - Wildcat wall?

I heard from a friend that the road to Wildcat Wall at Tieton washed out earlier this year. Just wondering if anyone has tried to head up there recently and could comment on the drive/approach. Has the road been cleared? If not, how much of a hike is it from the road block to the crag? Thanks for your help.

I wanted to report the washout of Wildcat Rd./NFS-1306. This is a primary access into a number of Tieton River Rocks areas including "The Caldera", "The Honeycomb Buttress", and "Wild Cat Wall".

My friend and I were headed to The Caldera for bouldering and found a cement blockade in the middle of the road at between .8 and 1.2 miles up the road (guess from google maps). Upon returning to Naches and visiting with the ranger at the NFS station, we were shown the pictures of the washout. It pretty much took the whole road at one of the creek pipe bypasses (aka not vehicle passable at all).

The ranger told us there is no money in the budget to fix the road this year or next year. So we are looking at maybe June/July 2016 for reopening of the road.

Just an FYI. Expect to require hiking your gear into the crag.

PS I'm going to post this on the crag pages as well as a heads up for people.

Thanks for this info. I've never been to Wildcat before so I don't know how far up the road it is ... any guess as to how long the approach would currently take by foot? Seems like it's one of the best crags at Tieton, but if it's over an hour hike, probably makes sense to look elsewhere.

Nope. It's an easy walk on the road for about 30-40mins to the old parking spot, where you drop down to the cliff. Easy riding if you've got a bike.

yes, I spoke to some folks that used bikes to get there. And yes it is a great crag, more like Trout creek cracks.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
