Thunder Moon is a link up which combines all the best climbing that the Thunderbird formation has to offer and has quickly become my warm up of choice. For the 5.10 grade, it's the best climbing up here and packs in a lengthy section of climbing at the grade. A few well placed full length runners and a fist full of long draws will keep your rope flowing just fine. It’s a full value pitch and perhaps one of the best 5.10 sport routes in Flagstaff despite the fact that its a link.

Start on Thunderbird Arête. After pulling the arête moves and the bulge at bolt #10, look right across the enticing incut jug rail with drop away feet that leads past a connector bolt and directly into the upper portion of the crux of Man On the Moon. Enjoy the air and perfect holds as you follow Man On the Moon to the anchors.

Someone will need to follow this pitch in order to clean draws.

This thing is long enough to really stretch a 60M rope to its limits and only works because you lower off to a higher elevation. Watch your rope ends. 70M recommended.
