The Ultimate Epic Journey

Fellow climber preparing to take the plunge and looking for ideas and suggestions to make it fun. How did you propose for your ultimate Epic? |

My vote is for something like this: |

I was too vague. Looking for good marriage proposal stories from fellow climbers. C'mon, what's more epic than committing to one person for the rest of your life? |

We were out at IC for a week long trip doing some climbing & biking. It was my birthday and I popped the question while we were hanging out on a big flat boulder under Battle of the Bulge. |

I met my hubby on an airplane during a trans-Atlantic flight, so he proposed on a trans-Atlantic flight almost exactly four years later (three days off, but amazing effort). I thought he was going to throw up, so I asked him if he wanted to go to the bathroom, and out came the ring. I was not by any means expecting it, totally stunned. |

How did you propose for your ultimate Epic?If I was a bit more imaginative when I had proposed I would have done something like this... Find a route (assuming that your partner climbs) that has a tube at the summit that contains paper for signing your names for showing you topped out this super mega epic route. Figure it so you are to lead the final pitch. When you summit temporally replace the sign sheet with a message that reads "will you Marry me?". When your GF get to the summit have her open the tube to add your climbing team to the list... or so she thinks. and then pull out the ring that you hiden in the zipper pocket of your chalk bag, and drop to one knee. Now watch the amazement on your girls face as she reads and realized her dreams of marrying you have come true and in a memorable and re-tell-able way too. |

Last year I was hiking down the trail that leads to the top of the mountain here in the Potrero Chico when I ran into a young couple who asked if they were on the right trail to the top. |

I proposed last summer on top of a mountain in the Dolomites. WE were on a 10 month europe trip. I carried the ring with me for 6 months in my camera bag before I did it! I wanted to propose on top of the tallest tower of the cinque torre, but the weather was never good enough. I setteled on doing on top of Averau which we climbed on a Via Ferrata. It was in the fog the entire climb. Just as we summited the clouds broke and it is sunny for just long enough to pop the question. |

I'm going to go with Marc H's video link. |
