James Sullivan on Idle Hands.

Photo: Corey Garga...

Description

The square block at the base of the large scooped out headwall. Named for the surprising quality of the routes on it. I was encouraged to "not waste my time" on this section of the cliff. Glad I did!

Getting There

Makes up the right border of the Iron Curtain and goes down hill from there (pun intended!)

Last Climb of the day - cleaning anchors on decorator crab

Decorator Crab 5.10a  CA : SF Bay Area : ... : The Shock Block
Clip the 1st bolt from the ledge, then step off and right with insta-exposure! Crank up the large holds on alternating vertical and steep terrain till the final slab before the anchors. Classic! There is a 4 bolt Direct Start which starts on a lower tier of rock and goes up a nice dihedral (12 bolts - MUST use a 60M!)....[more]   Browse More Classics in CA
