UPDATE!!!!

We have secured Bank campground sites 1, 5, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12 and 13. See Jeff Bevan when you arrive to get one.

Due to ridicula-rains®, the Shelf Road Shindig™ has been postponed until the weekend of Sept. 27- 29.

Remember going to Shelf Road one weekend when they had this party sort of thing? Yeah, sometime back in 2003 or so. Well, that party has returned! Huzzah!

Jeff, one of the Orignal Guys that put on the gig said, "Let's do this thing." And so we have set aside September 13th to the 15th as the weekend. Jeff will go down early and get the group site and some of us will get numbered sites for extra space. Plan to stay the whole weekend or just come for a night. Rumor has it that Jeff will cook up a huge breakfast like he did in the past. That's for Saturday morning.

Expect to meet a lot of new people and maybe go off and climb with them the next day. In all, it should be a great time.

Ex boyfriends, ex girlfriends, and distant relatives welcome, as are well behaved dogs and two legged mammals. Don't forget your camp chair and your friends. One isn't very comfortable to sit on and the other can't belay.

Bummed that I'm gonna miss this year's Shindig. I've always had fun climbing with Jeff & Lee, along with meeting lots of new people.

I just may have to make it to this.

We will just have to have a Shindig Part Deux later in the month or early October I guess. Geez, you guys. That's a lot of breakfasts to cook.

Seriously, if this one turns out to be a blast, we'll just have to do that. Maybe make the next one a potluck breakfast. Yeah! All you need is the Idea.

Pretty sure we'll be there, staying at the Yurt. Have to hike in though; the road washed out, totaled. I hope to get the hot tub up and running for any MPrs brave enough to make the hike up Saturday night (might have to hike in fuel for the generator).
Any one interested in camping above Cactus Cliff get in touch! It would be good to have some help.

Bump for a week out. We have at least 50 people RSVPed so far. Going to be fun. Years ago I actually took some people down to 4-Mile-creek for a dip in the cool waters from camp. Might have to pioneer that route again!

So what's the camping situation like, Tim? I haven't camped at Shelf in 20 years, I can't remember.

Camping is good. If you want to throw your lot in with the group site, you can put a tent in the field next to it. Otherwise drive up early and get a pay site. There is also a very nice free site for Sand Gulch down the left road at the fork. I can show you that one. You need a high clearance vehicle to go there, though.

Alright, it's this upcoming weekend! Good seeing a lot of you at the Sympathy for the Devil gathering last weekend.

Since all of Boulder and many other sport climbing crags are fubarred at the moment, I expect Shelf is going to be the place for a while. Time to branch out and explore areas you have never been to. But most of all, time to come down and meet other climbers.

See you all there!

Wow. I didn't see this until now. A friend and I have had a shindig planned for this coming weekend as well. We've been doing a spring trip for 11 years and a fall version for about 8. We'll have about 30 people (mostly Nebraskans and former Nebraskans who live in Boulder) up at the Bank group site. Hope to see you guys out there!

Doug

Yes, it wil be crowded, but since our Front Range has suffered such a blow to climbing in Estes Park and around Boulder, let's just get used to having everyone else right next to us at the routes. Hey, you might even make some new friendz. OMGS. There are still relatively uncrowded crags at Shelf if you go seek them out, too.

I for one welcome the mass of sweaty people and their foaming-at-the-mouth dogs this weekend! Yes, you can take a ride on that rope. Might I get a catch here? Why yes, I DO have an extra beer with me.

Not sure if they're part of your group but there's a large contingent already at the sand gulch site. Two white school buses and a few other vehicles. Not sure how long they're staying as we didn't stop on our way up to the Bank.

Thanks for the news from Shelf. Hopefully they will be gone tomorrow. If we need to move somewhere, we will post a message describing where we went. I'm checking to see who is going to be down there first on Friday.

CU's Alpine Club is headed to shelf tomorrow as well for the "Shelf Road Sickness" get together...about 60 people on the AC's FB page have said they are going. Just thought I would let you guys know.

Well sounds like I chose a bad weekend to plan climbing at Shelf. Sounds like a zoo...
