Description Suggest change

This area lies on the northeast corner of the Negropolis Hillside and features some easier routes as well as a small collection of quality sport routes. There are about 20 routes total. The rock quality is generally good and although the routes are short, they are fun and worth doing. Routes to do here include Skeleton Crew (5.10c/d), Bone Merchant (5.11a) and Pet Cemetery (5.11a).

There are four sections of rock here with routes. Several routes are down just above the desert floor level on the NE corner of the formation (blue on the overview photo). The next section is just up and left (drawn in green). The main Pet Cemetary cliff is about 150 yards up and left of this (outlined in yellow in the overview photo). To the right of the main Pet Cemetary cliff is a smaller formation with several more routes (pink in the overview photo).

The cliff generally gets early morning sun and is the shade most of the remainder of the day.

Getting There Suggest change

The parking for the Pet Cemetery is located about three miles east from the Joshua Tree (West) Entrance and roughly three miles west of Quail Springs Picnic Area (Trashcan Rock). Park on the side of Quail Springs Road/Park Boulevard near a small rock pile on the west (right) side of the road. From the road, walk east along the left side of the Negropolis hillside. The approach should take about 5-15 minutes, depending on which section you are going to.
