The future of climbing is shitty
I know this is a joke but.... I... can't help but agree with many of these. |
Hahahah Awesome! The good thing is that although it will get more crowded, lots of those introduced at the gym will go outside once and then spray about that for the rest of their life, without going back. |
The author is obviously going to the wrong places if he is waiting in line for climbs at Red River Gorge. There are over 3000 climbs with about 500 to be published early this fall. If you're trying to get on classics during peak season then you get what you get in regards to the crowds. We had all of Funk Rock City to ourselves on Thursday day with beautiful sunny weather in the 60's. |

Folks, please stop falling for the parody troll that is Wesley Summers and his blog. |
With 4 ft rise in the world ocean and a few more cataclysmic changes I bet climbing rock and ice is bound to be more bad ass! |

I chuckled. Definitely not a full laugh, but at least a smirk. |

Nathanael wrote:I chuckled. Definitely not a full laugh, but at least a smirk.+1 Yeah, not up to Wesley's usual level of lunacy....but enough bait to hook at least one poster in this thread. |
pretty sure everyone knows this guy is a troll, but it's still better than the /r/climbing trolls. |

Marc801 wrote:Folks, please stop falling for the parody troll that is Wesley Summers and his blog. No! please don't. Some of the facebook comments are the best. But you're right, if the future of the sport is up to people who take themselves so seriously, then I am worried. |
This shit is fucking hilarious. somebody please tell this guy to go retro bolt some classic climbs in north carolina. the outcome of that would definitely be worth reading about |

I remember a major magazine interviewing this dude in person and the end result was that he was not a troll, but in fact he was just as mentally challenged in real life as his articles make him sound. He actually believes the crap he tells is correct. |

If your talking about the DPM article, definitely not for real. |

Some articles are more subtle than others, but after a while it becomes obvious. |
That DPM article was hilarious, but he definitely showed his hand. His is easily the best troll climbing blog ever, but its internal consistency has been slipping, the old certified belay instructor Wesley who used half a dozen locking carabiners to make a top-rope anchor and thought r rated routes were unethical would never have written this piece. |
89.45% of folks who find Wesley's stories upsetting are also outraged at news updates on ONN. |
I have to believe most of the outrage posts are trolling the troll. It's just way too over the top at times. |
