Right end of the Frying Pan.

Description

This area encompasses various crags along Frying Pan Road.

Getting There

Depends on the crag, but for the main Frying Pan cliff (The Skillet), drive 12 miles on Frying Pan Road from where it starts in Basalt. Park at a pullout on the right (South) immediately before a road that breaks off to the right and down to the Reudi Dam. Walk 50' back along the road and begin hiking up a talus field near a brown marker post.

Featured Route For The Frying Pan
The Technician follows the obtuse corner on the left side of the picture.

The Technician 5.12b  CO : Carbondale : ... : The Skillet
This is a fantastic route that is very appropriately named. Climbs through a loose roof band down low (stick clip), and then up the very hard to decipher left-facing dihedral system above. Watch for fragile holds and a few large, loose flakes up high....[more]   Browse More Classics in CO
