The Finger (I promise a better photo later). When ...

Description

The Finger stands out prominently as the only spire in the area, and is hard to resist for those who enjoy climbing off the beaten path. Decades ago, before the land below became so developed, it saw many more visitors than it does today, as evidenced by the routes listed in the old Fricke guidebook.

The descent is a single rope rappel off the southeast corner. Look for rap slings.

Getting There

I was fortunate enough to approach it from the house of a friend of a friend who lives near the base, but as far as I know, the nearest public access is from Hermit Park (which used to be a private getaway for Hewlit Packard employees but which recently became a Colorado State Park).
