BETA PHOTO: The Diamond Wall at Officer's Gulch Exit.

Description

The Diamond Wall is located at the base of the multi-tiered wall above the bike path parking lot at the Officer's Gulch exit. This crag is in the shade until late in the day and only host [3] challenging sport pitches.... A 500' slab to the left offers many moderate multi-pitch options with very little protection... this area has potential for many more routes, but the amount of cleaning and work have inhibited any development on this massif of walls. Helmets are highly recommended!

Getting There

Officer's Gulch exit is the access for the Diamond Wall. Park at the bike path parking lot. Approach is easiest on the viewer's right side of the massive boulder/scree field below the large massif of multi-tiered walls. After gaining the base of the long slab, just step up to the right to find the Diamond Wall.

Featured Route For The Diamond Wall
The Plug is the pitch on the right side of the wall. Very fingery pitch!

The Plug 5.10c  CO : 10 Mile Canyon : The Diamond Wall
This is the pitch on the right side of the wall. I established this pitch in fond memory of the late, great Seth Shaw (his nickname was The Plug). After hearing about his freakish accident in AK, I dedicated this route to him. RIP, Seth! See you on the other side.......[more]   Browse More Classics in CO

There is now a third route to the left of Lucy - about 5.10/11.

Also a big chain and rings lower off. A 60m rope is just long enough.

Any info on the route?

This new route on the left is called "Cosmic Charlie" 5.11a (...in memory of Charlie Dorfeld...). We added this pitch in August in hopes it would be an independent line... there were some loose spots which required banging and prying, but it's climbing fairly clean now. We wanted it to stay out left of "Lucy" but didn't find holds staying left... so, "Cosmic Charlie" joins "Lucy" just below the crux (5.11a). "C. C." then finishes out left past 2 bolts through the roof, Lucy finishes straight up through the roof! Thanks, Charlie, for the inspiration!!!
Remember to wear helmets in this area!
