Description Pass the Sputnik Boulder like you are going up to the Lower Satellites. Instead of going left up the trail next to the huge wall known as The Wave, go up the right fork of the trail to the base of The Second Flatiron. Where the trail meets the base of the Second Flatiron, a cube-like boulder reminiscent of a Borg Cube on Star Trek is on your left. The Collective Direct ascends the middle of the vertical north face from a lower start than The Collective. Start at the base - almost in a bush - where a couple small boulders stick out of the ground. Begin by using a sharp 4-finger edge with either your left or right hand, high-step and move up to the sloping ledge that sort of "collects you" no matter what holds or sequence you use. From there, go for the top and pull over.
