Description
The Buttonhole is a smaller, shorter spire just northeast of the Wicked Picket. It is sort of behind (away from the Spires) and between Wicked Picket and Granddaddy/Grandma/El Mokana.
Getting There
We tried many ways to find it (the Buttonhole climb). Most ended in blind gulleys, sheer walls, and frustration.
Probably the easiest and most reliable way to get there is to approach as if you were going to climb the Sickle, and keep going around the backside of the Picket Fence. Follow a path of sorts in an easterly direction, along the backside of the Picket Fence. Go past the Wicked Picket and then after the next formation (the Buttonhole) angle up and right. You will see the crystal imbedded water chute that leads up and right to the belay for the 5.3 Buttonhole Route.
