The Best Carabiner

Since school has started up again I have used my excellent observation skills to notice the sheer number of students (mostly males wearing under armor) with carabiners on their backpacks. Now we could try to figure out what these carabines are for but that would just be way too time consuming. I am more interested in what the rest of Mountain Project has to say about which backpack carabiner is your favorite.

I personally prefer a steel autolocker for maximum safety but sometimes when I am feeling a little crazy I use a FS Mini since there are enough colors to match my outfit of the day.

I use a small bd locker to clip the pack to the anchor.

I had an old Bonaiti lightweight 'D biner that saved my ass back in the 70's and it was rewarded with keychain status for decades; long before stores were selling cheap-ass mini biners for kids to decorate their backpacks with. I've seen a school combination lock that is shaped like a thin carabiner. Now I use a helium or other very small 'biner for my keys. Other small light ones for attaching stuff like a helmet to my backpack.

When I was in the Navy I saw a lot of people with cheap knockoff "military-style" packs with those big ass black Omega Pacific lockers on them. Never anything clipped to the biner though - odd.

my girlfriend has a strange affinity to my trango superfly for her keys... but I prefer it for my draws

I used to work in a gear shop and a woman came in one day looking for a carabiner for her water bottle. We tried to sell her a key chain carabiner, I think they were $.50 or something. She spots the locking Revolver up on the rack and decides its the one for her. Lady lays down $35 on a carabiner for her water bottle. Awesome! That bottle is super secure and better yet is not creating very much friction as it hangs from her backpack.

well this is just my personal preference, since it would be stupid to use them for climbing haha.

dude dont knock the froggie! Thing is actually pretty sweet. Super slick for shorter climbers who can't quite reach a bolt in a sketchy fall situation (or weak/scared taller climbers like me).

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
