The Arch Wall
is a north/east facing slab of sharp and solid limestone.
This section of The Soul Asylum
currently hosts about six to eight long and varied sport routes with grades ranging from 5.6 to 5.11
The Arch Wall
is the second in a series of three relatively close areas at the Soul Asylum
. You will know you've reached the wall once you spot a small limestone arch at the apex of the wall's north/east face. The route directly under this arch is the epic Arch Rival
Finding the Arch Wall starts with a swift hike from the Simian Complex parking lot. From the cattle guard, drive 1.9 miles to an intersection, turn left and drive another 0.2 of a mile on bumpy, but ascendable, 2wd terrain to a small parking area on the right. Walk about 0.3 of a mile to a white metal gate. From the gate walk another 0.3 on an eroding dirt road to a deep and wide rut hosting cairns. Follow these east to the Soul Asylum's base.

A fun, long line with several somewhat steeper sections to overcome on the way up. Pockets abound, along with positive edges. In one or two steeper locations just a bit of less-than-totally straightforward movement is required. After the eleventh bolt, head up and right a bit through a scoop to the final three bolts and the anchors....[more] Browse More Classics in UT
