Has anyone done any climbing within an hour of Ouray yet this year? I am considering taking a vacation there with my lady mid november, and would love to get a day of ice climbing in, but am concerned that it is just too early around there. Michael E.

I am just in a bad mood, so I am going to comment on the above post. Although, there is no anger in my response.

Why not go and check it out yourself? You know where the route is located, you know it goes. It doesn't look terribly committing (as far as traverses, overhanging, ect.). Go have an adventure and report back!

Isn't that the picture from Chris Davenport's facebook page? Why don't you just ask him? Scott McMahon

These are my least favorite type of statements on mp. The entire reason mp exists is to provide beta/ask for beta. Though there may not be anger in your response, it's condescending.

Left an ice clipper biner and a reverso 4 attached to it at the base of Lincoln yesterday November 6th. I believe it should of been by the tree, let me know if you grabbed it and I will buy you some beer, I live in Summit County.

Thanks,

I'll be up there this coming week. I'll let you know if I find anything, but I'm guessing with the impending snow it might get buried. Who knows though!

Re:Vail
I walked up to Racquet Club not last weekend, but the one before. (Oct 28?) things were just barely starting to freeze, nothing that could hold any weight. We've had a bunch of warm days, but reasonably cold nights... i would expect it's about the same. If I get the time I'll stop by again and grab a photo.

Things are pretty non existent here in Ouray right now. Not a spot of ice on Ribbon/BBB....or really anywhere on Camp Bird Road. Lots of dry tooling routes in though. Noah8000

Many thanks again to the guys doing the farming at Lincoln. I understand your desire to remain relatively anonymous, but I'd also like to say "thank you" in a more tangible way. If one or more of you would PM me, I'd like to provide you with some beer, gear or something similar. Kevin Craig

I would be interested in hearing about Ridgeway, Ouray, Redstone, or Lake City... Basically anything other than the I-70 corridor or RMNP. clay meier

If Lincoln Falls is crowded, check out the South West side of Quandary Peak before the Blue Lake road gets snowed in for the season. Just hike 20-30 min to the Fletcher/Quandary saddle, there are some nice WI2-3 flows and mixed climbs that can be TR. Taylor-B.
