Grainy rock can be ok in spots. Some of the walls north of the rest stop are state land and require those considerations. North of Dragoon road exit are private lands (number of owners) and tread lightly.
Getting There
Drive East of Benson about 17 miles on I-10 to the Dragoon road exit. Park off road to approach the "Thing" (ow boulder in exit area) or the routes to the north. The North side rest stop requires climbing a fence to access or walk in (1/3 mile) from Dragoon road. It is best not to park on I-10 proper.
The Classics
Mountain Project's determination of some of the classic, most popular, highest rated routes for Texas Canyon:
I drove past here this past weekend and it looked pretty sweet but your review makes me think otherwise. This is about 5 hours from me. And Hueco is 30 minutes. Is it worth the drive?
LMAO, Eric, you could have had him cursing your name for the whole 5 hour drive home... You are so kind sometimes.
This place is the definition of rotten desert granite. One would think that somewhere in all of that rock there would be at least one thing worth doing.... alas
