Dear Friends of CRAGS,

Effective immediately and until further notice, certain areas of the Auburn Quarry are closed due to falcon nesting, pursuant to the order of the Auburn State Recreation Area ("ASRA") Superintendent. Please see the attached Falcon Closure Order.

The areas closed are:

Wreckage Wall to the Upper Canyon, including Twin Towers and the other unnamed walls in the upper canyon.

The following areas are still open to climbing:

Memorial Wall,

Surf Tower,

Tilting Vertex Wall,

The Patio,

Scale Wall,

Horseshoe Canyon, and

Horsepoo Canyon.

In order to preserve our ability to continue climbing at Auburn, we must respect the closure order. Please review the order, become acquainted with the prohibited areas, and spread the word so that Auburn climbing is not jeopardized.

The Access Fund is also aware and involved. We continue to work with them as well as ASRA to both be good stewards to the environment and the climbing community. If you have any questions about the closure or Auburn, or want to see what you can do to get involved, please reply to CRAGS Executive Director Daniel Frederick (daniel_frederick@sbcglobal.net), Brian Poulsen (bpoulsenjr@gmail.com), and cc me (angiejclifford@gmail.com).

Many thanks for spreading the word and for all of your support.

Angie Clifford
