Hey all, I am currently applying for a middle school teaching job in the area and was wondering if there are any fellow teachers, or parents have any insight for an out-of-towner like myself. I am primarily looking at the mammoth lakes and bishop areas but am open to anywhere that allows quality climbing year round mozeman

Back in the day I applied for a teaching position in Lee Vining . I backed out after I sat down with myself and seriously considered what life would be like on the east side , during winter months , far from friends , in a tiny community etc. Now I teach in the Bay Area , and am pretty happy . We still get summer to spend many carefree days over on the E. side .

I think you need to be realistic about middle school in that area . How many middle schools are there between say, Bridgeport and Lone Pine ? maybe five ? I don't know . Just saying the pool of opportunities and openings will be a lot smaller than any urban area .

Not trying to discourage you , but you might need to start off subbing in the area first , build a reputation , make a few connections , pay your dues etc.

Side note: I applied in Minden NV. and it looked promising , a very nice community out there not too far from the climbing and skiing lifestyle .

Best of luck ...
