Just curious as to who typically collects the summit register on top of Tahquitz Rock??
The current notebook which has been there a little over a year now is completely full and is definitely in need of replacement!!!

I've seen it once or twice. It was on the summit, nearby where Whodunnit tops out. I think it's usually underneath the summit block, but sometimes it either isn't there or has been moved around. It was in a [black?] homemade pvc container.

I don't know who placed it or who maintains it.

I'll run up there in the next week with a new notebook.

Ryan hit it on the nose perfect!
I've always been under the impression the local chapter of the Sierra Club collects it when it is full?
Either way sounds like a new book will be in there soon.

I've always wondered about summit registers, as I've signed a few. I was under the impression that the Sierra Club "archived" (saved) them for posterity, but does anyone actually go back to read their signature, years later? What is the purpose of it, other than to say "I was on top"? Is there any use for a completed summit register?

Edit: I have heard it suggested that they could be used to tell if a missing person was recently on that peak, but other than that, why would they be saved?

Frank.... I have always loved it whenever I can add my name below one of the greats like: Clyde or Ax Nelson.....

but the top of Taquitz????

I added a new notebook today. It's a red, pocket sized composition book. I left the full notebook in the register, in case the owner wants to retrieve it.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
