Tahoe for beginners?
|
I'm headed out to North Lake Tahoe this weekend to visit some family, my sister and her boyfriend just got into climbing and I'm psyched to take them out for some top-roping. Is there any beta on the best areas to take super beginning climbers out? |

90 Foot Wall Could be cold.
Be aware that most climbing in the Truckee River areas are more difficult, with particularly sharp rock that beginners might not like. |

bastille slab below school rock at donner. bolted anchors I'm pretty sure |

Not quite sure where you'll be in N. Tahoe, but there are a number of crags. Might browse through the area here, see what looks good to you. 90ft wall has a lot of fun routes, and is one of the few places I've been around Lake Tahoe proper. I've also been to Spooner Crag, which is pretty much on the opposite side of the lake. I know there's stuff in between, but I can't speak for the quality of it. |

Thanks for the beta guys! There's definitely tons of rock out there that looks good. My main concern was anchor access since I'm not super confident (read:not at all confident) in the family's belay skills. It looks like all three of those spots could be pretty good options as long as the weather holds! |

If your in north shore check out Twin Crags, Indian Springs, Donner, 90' wall, Luther Spires (south lake), or the Emeralds. All have lots of TR accessible by a scramble. |
