Tahoe area conditions

I have been out of town for the last few weeks and am out of touch with the Tahoe area climbing conditions.

We are heading up to the area this weekend to either ski tour or climb, leaning towards climbing.

Is Lover's Leap dry? Sugarloaf? Any dry crags in the S. Lake Tahoe area?

Any info would be much appreciated.

The conditions are great. Haven't been to the Leap myself this season, but some guys I was climbing with this weekend said it's dry and nice. Donner is nice and warm and somewhat dry depending on where you go up there. South Lake Tahoe is nice and dry, for the most part. The Pie Shop is dry. Seems to me that most everything at this point is pretty dry. DL Bliss is perfect. Conditions are right.

The Leap is dry (except for the trail). Was there Monday.

Was at phantom spires yesterday afternoon, shirtless. Same with Indian springs last week.

Haven't heard anything about old 40 being opened up, anyone know? I'd like to get back up there.

Right on -- thanks for the info, everyone.

Bummed that the ski season has been so lack-luster, but at least that means a decent winter climbing season.

Anything below 7000ft is definitely dry. This weekend looks dry but colder so I would choose Phantom Spires or Sugarloaf. Donner is pretty dry too.

Yeah to all the above, but be aware that the campgrounds are all closed for the (non-existent) snow.

Any condition reports on the main Tahoe areas post the last winter storm?

Should I just go to Pinnacles?

Went on a quick recon trip to the the leap today. East Wall is dry. the trail (at the base of the wall) past the east wall is fairly patchy with snow (so I wouldn't try and walk along the central wall to the main wall). Didn't really look at lower buttress or main wall. Hogsback is good to go. The only real issues are:

1. The descent looks fairly snowy.
2. The road into the climber's camp is pretty rutted out. I wouldn't take anything less than a truck onto that road.
3. Hogsback is getting sun around 10ish.
4. West wall is getting sun after 12:30.

good luck have fun!!!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
