Over the last year I've gotten to test out the Black Diamond Nitro and 50 Caliber Packs. The Caliber is really large and durable and carries well. The Nitro has Black Diamond's innovative new suspension that moves with you as you walk. Check out the links below for a full reviews of both packs.

A beautiful view of the Conness lakes with the 50 Caliber

50 Caliber Pro's:

* Lid is removable and has helmet mesh.
* Bottom of pack is very durable.
* Waist belt is very comfortable and is quite adjustable.
* Pack compresses well.
* Very spacious and fits gear well.

50 Caliber Con's:

* Shoulder straps could be shaped to fit better.
* Load lifters are not very effective.

Looking up at Mt Rainier with the Nitro

Nitro Pros:

* External kangaroo pocket is always useful
* Mesh pockets are very stretchy and can easily fit a 1 Liter water bottle.
* reActiv suspension moves with your body and makes loads seem lighter.

Nitro Cons:

* Missing a keeper loop or clip on the shoulder straps for a hydration hose.
* An internal zippered pocket or a larger top pocket would have been nice.

Commments? Thoughts?

Enjoy,

Luke
