I felt the effect of the government shutdown for the first time today. Went to Sunset to find out the park is closed...ouch. Such a good time of year for climbing at Sunset Rock, too bad.

You know you can just park at the lower lot at cravens and hike in...maybe a little over a mile. Went running up there yesterday...

We did that Wednesday. Found a warning posted on our vehicle by the authority on our way out.

The park superintendent asked me to post that Sunset rock is indeed closed to climbing until the government shutdown is lifted. He asked for everyone's cooperation as they do not have staff to respond to any possible accident within the park.

Don't cooperate when they tell you to do this; it makes it more difficult for others to feign ignorance as they try to avoid a ticket!

Thank you Chuck for passing along the closure status.
