| I'll be headed to Stoney point this week and was wondering if anyone knew of a camping area within any kind of distance? I'm not finding a whole lot in my research. | FLAG |

| I don't think theres much around there. You could camp at Stoney if you did it real simple bivy style. But youd have to park your car a few blocks away. Stoney is gonna be really hot. Check out horse flats or malibu creek if you want a cooler place to camp/climb. | FLAG |

| Although you "could" camp at stoney point it would not be a good idea in my opinion. It's full of glass, roaches, and not to mention illegal. You're research is correct. There aren't any camping areas close by. Camping on the beach in Ventura would be nice but it's far away. How many nights are you planning to stay in the area and which direction are you coming from? | FLAG |

| Are you taking a trip to Stoney Point? Interesting. | FLAG |

| Heck yeah. Stoney just became a destination. Must be the press from Cole's documentary. I love Stoney, but I'd have to agree that there may be a better option. If you like sandstone bouldering, why not go to pine mountain or santa Barbara. The weather will be much better. Bouldering is just as fun if not better. There's camping nearby. The only problem is the flies. But they go away when the sea breeze comes in. | FLAG |

| Jeffrey.... Stoney Point is a destination, no matter what these other folks tell you. You can camp at Malibu State park... the same place where the climbing is. I dont know what the deal is with them about reservations, fees etc but it is pretty close to Stoney. And there is camping out towards Moorpark. A place named "OAK PARK" (not the town of) Its located between Simi Valley and Moorpark on the old road (Los Angeles ave.)west of Madera and just east(approx 3 miles) of Collins Drive off ramp. It gets nice and cool at the point around 3 - 4 pm when the sea breeze gets going.... please dont listen to what these other folks tell you. Have fun at Stoney. | FLAG |

| If you do get out to Stoney, try "nut cracker." It's my favorite crack climb there. | FLAG |

| I happen to be headed near that area and wanted to check it out for the day. I plan on trying to get over to the sandbox and up to Santa barbara later in the week. I'll be coming from big pines area and will try to climb at Stoney Thursday or Friday. Maybe just spend one day at Stoney and do a few l.a. tourist activiites before heading up the coast. | FLAG |

| Just a quick trip report. We had a lot of fun at Stoney over the course of a few days. We ended up camping at Millard camp ground near Pasadena which was about a half hour away but the camping was free and was wonderful except they closed a forest service gate at 8pm which made for an early curfew on some of the longest days of the year. The climbing was good and the climbing community seemed very strong. I can't wait to get back there. | FLAG |

| I've read about the sandbox traverse near the Malibu creek but can't seem to find good info about it. Im off to search for it again now. Then off to Santa Barbara to climb for a few days. Thanks for all the help. | FLAG |

| Millard was free? Was the creepy campground host there? | FLAG |
By Jeffrey OBrien Jun 26, 2012
| Ya it was free and yes the creepy camp host was there. He even offered to let my girlfriend use his portable outdoor shower. She respectfully declined. | FLAG |
