I was thinking of checking out the bouldering around Stone Mountain, NC next week and was curious if there was anymore beta out there besides these 2 articles?

www.cruxn.com/stone-mountain-bouldering/
cruxn.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/stone-mtn-bouldering_si>>>

These are 2 great articles and will give me enough to check out, but I was curious if there were anymore sources of info (besides the little obvious info on this site and RC.com) or any route recommendations, especially great slab problems other than the Stone Mtn Simulator.

Thanks!

That seems to be all the beta I can find with the exception of a few videos on Vimeo.com. The north side boulders look pretty cool but I'm not sure exactly where they are or how to get to them. I spent a few hours on the south side and there are a few good boulders to be climbed, including a great highball v3. There are also random outcrops throughout the park, but you have to explore to find them. I'm sure there are some good problems at stone that have never been climbed, just have to find and clean them.

Here's a chick taking on the highball

How was the trip?

I was unable to make the trip due to a last minute snafoo. I was able to hit 3 of my other favorite granite boulderfields instead though (Rumbling Bald, the North Side of Looking Glass, and Yonah), send some long term projects and had some great sessions! Hoping to get up to Stone in a couple of weeks, before the heat and humidity make everything snotty.

Glad to hear you got some climbing in elsewhere. When you do make the trip up to stone, let me know how it goes. I'd like to be able to put a little more beta on here about Stone, especially the north side. Stone bouldering seems pretty overlooked, probably because of all the great trad routes. I've seen some other boulders in the park that could probably be cleaned and sent, so I'll have to post some beta when I figure out if they're worthwhile.
