I left my draws on Genevive a few weeks back. Just heard through the grapevine that they are there no longer. I know it isn't common on Mt. Lemmon to leave draws on projects, but I really didn't think someone would go to all all of the trouble to steal them. You actually have to rap in, swing over to set up on another anchor, then rap again down the line.
Not really expecting much, but they are older BD Livewire draws with Sterling dogbones in case anyone has any info.
I've all but stopped 'donating' leaver biners to anchors because in almost every situation, they get bootied. I can't remember where on Lemmon I saw this but someone (efr?) actually used quicksteel putty to lock them into the end of the chain. I wonder how well this holds up over time.
Sorry to hear about your draws Luke. Hopefully they'll find their way back to you. :)
Windy Point is really not a good place to leave anything hanging. Too many Rappel Heros and they all need key holders. In these high traffic areas I rarely use leavers at the anchors and tend to use chains or something else that won't be taken. It is a bit weird that they were taken from Genevive as it is hard to get them off of it. I think we lost some stuff off of the Beaver Wall once as it has been very popular with people who rappel.
Were these the draws that had a yellow plastic sheath over the dogbones? I played around on the route a month ago, since there were draws hanging on it. We left the draws on the route.
Later at the parking lot, there was a guy there that said the draws were his. I don't know who he was. (I'm really sorry if I get this wrong, my memory sucks), but I think the guy he was with was Matt Switanek. Maybe he knows something.
I have been climbing with Matt switanek the past 3 Saturdays at the beaver wall and he nor I would ever bootie any draws from any routes anywhere. Sorry to hear about your draws I will keep an eye out for those. Matt does not recall the incident in the parking lot either and I have not seen Steve for over a month.
Thanks for the heads up. I got in touch with Matt, and he let me know that he had no info On my draws. No worries. At thi point I have chalked it up as a learning experience. Good luck to you guys on Trapezoid!!
