| Our truck was broken into in Brooklyn, NY and both my and my fiance's packs were stolen which were packed full of all of our climbing equipment. Harnesses, helmets, double ropes, about 2 full racks worth of trad gear (BD stuff). We regularly climb in the Gunks. I will be searching daily on craigslist and ebay to see if these thieves try to sell my gear... most of my stuff was marked with a sharpie the initials CP, but may be fading. All carabiners were Black Diamond Oz and Hotwires Ropes were Mammut Genesis 8.5 old model (orange/blue) Petzl corax harness Camp green/black lightweight helmet old stinky climbing shoes cause i've been too cheap to buy new ones :( BOth of our packs, EMS Summit TL and Mammut Trea Guide Women's (NEW) If anyone gets wind of this stuff out there, please let me know. WHy couldn't they steal my car :( Chris & Kristina | FLAG |

| That sucks, sorry... I really hope you get your shit back. but, WHY? WHY would you leave your gear in a truck in Brooklyn? WTF were you thinking? There's no reason... You should have at least lugged the gear around. Sorry though... | FLAG |

| That SUCKS!!! Seeing stuff like this makes me increasingly diligent about NEVER leaving my gear in my truck. There are too many posts about gear being stolen out of peoples cars on this site, and I don't want to have to replace my rack. Sorry to hear about this, Christopher. I hope that you are able to get your gear back or at least get some coverage through insurance. | FLAG |

| it's a long shot, but check the bushes/ditches around teh scene of the crime. In squamish thieves have been known to rifle through packs for wallets, passports, etc before ditching the rest in a bush nearby. insurance? fucking thieves | FLAG |

| dirtbag wrote: insurance? fucking thieves I thought this was a funny juxtaposition... But for realsies; I hope you have comprehensive coverage with a low enough deductible to help take a chunk out of the cost of replacing all that stuff. My condolences. | FLAG |

| How awful. Do you have renter's or homeowner's insurance? I know my renter's policy would actually cover this kind of loss with a modest deductible. I got curious and looked into it after accidentally leaving my station wagon unlocked at the Trapps all day with my rack sitting in the trunk in plain view. Thankfully the Gunks isn't Brooklyn... Good luck getting your stuff back. I'll keep an eye out. | FLAG |

| Sorry to hear about your gear. I had my ice climbing backpack stolen last year, loaded with ropes, harness, crampons, etc... Renter's insurance covered it without question. It's bizarre how quickly the price tag of our climbing equipment adds up. | FLAG |

| So sorry. Hard lesson. But Brooklyn? You can get your household garbage stolen in Brooklyn. None of us should ever have to lock anything up, but the sad truth is we all always have to lock up everything. | FLAG |

| Not that it helps, but looking at that list thats the equivalent of leaving $3500.00 in cash in your vehicle. If we thought about it like that alot less gear would be stolen out of vehicles. Sorry to hear about that. Its gotta hurt. | FLAG |

| Some times gear has to be left in the car. The car is worth a lot more (well maybe not your car)but we park and leave them all over the place. I hope you have homeowners or renters insurance. | FLAG |

| That totally sucks man. I totally feel for you. There is no worse feeling than to have someone steal the gear for the actgvity you love so much. I recently had all of my slackline stuff stolen. Lukily I was able to get it back, but it still hurts. Good luck. | FLAG |
