Hey all, I have a spot open for Katahdin from 9/14-9/18. 9/14 (Monday) would be at Roaring Brook, Tuesday-Thursday at Chimney Pond, and Friday at Roaring Brook.

One of my friends (let's call him 'R') had to bail due to work obligations, so as of now it is myself and one other person. Our main objective for this trip was going to be the Armadillo and we are open to other climbs as well, but there is one kicker:

Our friend (R) who bailed was the one with the experience who as going to lead us up there. Neither myself nor my other friend can lead pitches up there, although we are both competent climbers and in great shape. I am a new climber but have been following 'R' at the Gunks several days a week for pretty much the entire summer. Right now I can follow pretty solidly on 5.9 routes in the Gunks (think MF, Higher Stannard, etc). I am very comfortable belaying, being in exposed positions, etc. The other person who would be going is a stronger climber and has been climbing longer than me, although he is pretty much brand new to leading trad (whereas I haven't led anything yet).

This would be a great opportunity for someone looking to take their guide's exam and needing to get a few trips as a leader under their belt. But again, you would be leading all pitches and it would be your knowledge and experience that would be getting us safely to the top.

If you wanted to do any other climbs that week we are more than open to suggestions. I live in New Paltz and will be driving up from here. I am more than willing to pick you up along the way.

If anyone is interested please let me know as soon as possible. If you live close to the Gunks i'd love to try and meet up beforehand so that we could get comfortable with each other and climb together if possible.

Thanks!

Cautiously intrigued and potentially game. How much, if any, multipitch experience do you have?

i am interested, im moving to maine from ca and know noone, and the armidillo looks like a fun climb.

i can lead all pitches and what not, just need a solid belay please. I have all gear we would need.

send me a message, tell me about yourself. I don't care as much about your climbing experience as much as i do your general character, I don't wanna be up there with some gun toting NRA wacko.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
