I've been living in Boulder for the summer, but have the month of October off before ski season and a new job begin. I don't know anything about the area, but would love to spend a month, or at least a week, at the creek. I heard the camping is free? Is there a max stay?

I tried browsing craigslist for possible temp job opportunities, but received nothing. Any ideas on where to look or possible options?

Any beta would be helpful :) thanks!

The closest town of any size is Moab. Its an hour north of the creek. Plan accordingly.

Since its BLM land, your max stay is technically 2 weeks in one spot.

getting ready to hang dog while trying to lead something that is way out of my league. like a 5.8.

even though i hate people from boulder, i would not recommend getting a job in monticello, or even going near that town. unless you like heavy amounts of radiation (just go to their town museum/shack).

There is no real max stay limit, but camping and access problems are growing issues. Try to read up on the do's and don'ts before heading out there. Bring water, don't leave trash, shit in a bag, don't step on crypto-biotic soil, don't leave used tape gloves at the crag.

Locals don't usually take to kindly to folks from boulder, so be as upstanding a visitor as you can be. Check out the friends of indian creek website.

And yes, Monticello is a very, very dark place. they will take your money, put you in jail, and just generally fuck you over any way possible (in my experience). there is great ice cream though at Woody's on the corner at the light.

have fun!
