Description

The South Face Base of Sugar Loaf is where the slab face gets steepest. Two forms of climbs are possible in this zone. The obvious is the steep micro crimp face climbs and the other form of climbs make use of the irregularities such as cracks, corners and bulges.

Getting There

A 2-track off Tunnel Rd will get you quite close to the South Face Base and you will be near an abandoned sheep herder's wheel less RV cabin. See Map. From here hike north and locate a major right facing dihederal above a boulder field. The base climbs are near this feature.
