I'm looking for a Snake Dike partner in April/May. My sched is fairly flexible. I could even do a Wednesday. I prefer someone who has done it before because of the runout. I have not done it before but have always wanted to. I'm a solid 5.6 jtree climber with self rescue skills.
TL;DR of your post = need a rope gun for 5.6r TL;DR of my post = no you dont.
If your can do any/all old school 5.6 on lead you can do snake dike. The undercling/ slab crux on the first pitch is easy and super protected. The 2nd pitch "crux" of like 2-3 5.6 slab moves that is 10ft maybe past the bolt is easy. The rest is 5.4 if even that, sure there is a 100ft run out but you are on a low angle rock ladder. You'd be better off hiking, biking, and running a ton for the real crux of the climb, the approach and descent.
Thanks for the feedback guys. I've read a lot about the climb and I'm not THAT worried about it in terms of leading it. But I also don't want to get up there and realize it's not my day (i.e. mentally speaking). Which is the reason I'm looking for a partner who has done it.
