Pitch 1

I'm going to be in SLC the week of April 21-25 for training and have a few questions:

  • My training is in Sandy, where should I stay? SLC proper, Sandy, other option?

  • Is it possible to get an after work session in at Little Cottonwood or other crag? I'll be getting out of class at 4:30

  • If it is possible to hit the rock after work, then I'll be looking for partners. Also, I should have the majority of Monday, April 21st open to climb. Send me a PM or email at david.failla.ii at gmail if you are also looking for an after work partner this week as well.

If your primarily interested in climbing after your training Sandy is a good bet. There is a climbing gym close by too if the weather doesn't cooperate.

Very easily, the drive is 15mins or so from Sandy.

It's totally possible! Or if you short on time you can always go into the BCC and there are quite a few crags right next to the road so the approach doesn't eat a lot of your time.

Awesome, sfotex and madskates thank you for the info. It's exactly what I was looking for. I'll have to try and check out both LCC and BCC.

ddriver, my training is at Layton Construction, rigth off of 15 and W 9000 S.

definitely sandy. 9000 South is directly west of LCC; 9000 South turns into Little Cottonwood Road once you get to the mountains. you should be able to get climbing in. april has pretty variable weather from day to day, and minute to minute.

MJMobes, I'm guessing that will be the case. I usually don't want to leave anywhere I visit in the west.

You'll be just west of I-15 off 90th South, so, not sure your lodging budget but there's a Comfort Inn really close (also close to Lumpy's, which, may or may not be a good thing), and, a pile of places just east of I-15 on the frontage road south of 9400 South. Hyatt House looks nice. Etc. There's also a cluster of hotels at 10,600 south too, near the interstate.

Majestic Rockies Motel looks nice if you're on a budget.

About 10 minute drive to the mouth of LCC from where you'll be.

If the weather is crappy, Momentum is close (4 minutes, give or take). Just joined (Rockreation..RIP...sniff sniff).

I work very near where you'll be...so...give us a shout when your here. I get off work around the same time so...easy to carpool to the crags.
