Description

The Skunk Hollow campgrounds are located on Strube Loop on Casper Mountain. Along with some climbing, the area also provides great mountain bike/running trails. The higher elevation makes the mountain usually around 10 degrees cooler than downtown, which makes for great summer/fall climbing.

While Skunk Hollow doesn't have quite the "classic" status, it's certainly a nice place to beat the heat and climb.

There are 2 main areas of the Skunk Hollow campgrounds:
Sensory Deprivation- Located at the bottom of Strube Loop next to the Braille Trail. The majority of the climbing to be done at Skunk Hollow is at Sensory Deprivation,

Wave of Mutilation
- Located near the entrance to Skunk Hollow, right next to the road at a campsite. A long "wave" of rock. Lots of traversing to be done here

Getting There

Follow the road up the mountain and keep left at the fork in the direction of Bear Trap Meadows. There is a parking lot on the left side of the road and a gate leading to Strube Loop. Drive (or walk) through the gates to access some nice campsites and excellent biking trails. At the bottom of the loop, you will see a big(ish) rock formation where the bulk of the routes will be.

If you need any more info on the area or a group to climb with, I am working at Mountain Sports (at the corner of 6th and Center st. downtown) most days

getting from crimp to sloper.

Human Sacrifice V3 PG13  WY : Casper Mountain : ... : Head Games
Kick ass moves. Start matched on the crimp, get to the large sloper in the middle of the boulder and follow the arete to the top. Crux is getting around the nose. Also a little mentally cruxy due to all the broken rocks near the landing... have a good spotter!...[more]   Browse More Classics in WY
