Does anyone know of any professional or well-known climbers or mountaineers who have battled with skin cancer in any form?

Atop Mt. Teewinot, peak #1 of the Grand Traverse. The N. Face of the Grand beckons.

That's a pretty personal question, I would imagine that most folks would be reticent to talk about a friend's health issues on a public forum.

That said, I did see a recent piece in either Climbing or R&I by/about Thomas Huber, and it mentioned his recent battle with some type of cancer, though I don't remember which.

I am looking for pro's that have publicly announced it. Trying to organize a sun safety promotion to support the Skin Cancer Foundation.

Thanks for the tip!

Vervet Monkeys know which site is best.

Paul Humphrey (aka Disaster Master) was a highly talented climber who posted at length about his battle with malignant melanoma on Supertopo.

Here is a link to get you started, very inspiring guy. RIP.

I've had squamous and basal skin cancers, but I'm not famous or anything. And I know another guide here that had melanoma.
