So Im set to buy the Katana Laces, but the outfitter in town, the REI, and the Gym does not stock the shoe or know sizing related info so Im looking for a lil help from the Fam

Ive already read the posts prior to this about the Katana Velcro vs. Katana Lace vs. the Miura vs. the Miura Velcro...etc ( with little help )

I wear a size:
- 9.5 ( 5.10 Guide Tennie ) - with sock room ( so a size 9 barefoot & tight )
- 39 Katana Velcro
- 40 Miura Lace up

The dude I just talked to over the phone at Backcountry just told me to actually down size a half size from the Katana Velcro, bc the Katana Lace is more ergonomically designed. While the Fam here say half size up, in most instances, or the same size as the Miura.

Conflicting points of view and im confused as hell...

after the hard stuff, into cruiser hands.
half size down from street shoes, they don't stretch much.

If your sizes you listed are correct and I assume they are then you must love tightly fitted shoes.

I wear a size 41.5 street shoe and went 40.5 for my last three pairs of the laces. They are amazing.

Your street size and shoe sizes seem a little whack to me so i can't help you more than just saying they're awesome shoes!

I do enjoy those shoes hurting like a mother for the first month, but after that they fit like a condom, nice and snug

After looking at the La Sportiva Sizing chart, those sizes dont make sense, but thats what i wear. There tight and painful durning the break in, but just right after.

I guess in that case I downsized 1.5 sizes on my original pair, they were great but super painful.. no reason for it. Half size down now and they work just the same.

one thing I would recommend is to not size them ridiculously tight. Fit them very slightly tighter than a condom and you'll be stoked. They're a jack of most trades

i use the katana velcro, katana lace, miura lace, miura velcro extensively

IME for sport usage i would size them the same as the katana/miura sizing that i normally use for sport

of course everyone is different ... so consider buying from somewhere that has a free return shipping policy

or simply buy the katana velcro or miura if they already work for you ... i dont see any great advantages of the katana lace IME

Have you tried them on? Biggest mistake I've made is buying shoes just by size. Stretching is relevant, but if the shoe don't fit...

Your feet aren't like everyone else's.

I wear a size 10/10.5 street shoe and got a pair of 42.5 katana laces, initially they were snug, but stretched to a point where they were decent long route shoes, but i wouldve liked them tighter for sport climbing or bouldering.

From La Sportiva

"First tubular construction climbing shoe that gives you the performance of a lined shoe [ Lined with "Pacific" ] with the comfort of an unlined shoe.

Lined shoes stretch about a half size. So Lasportiva says... "about" eh?

Pacific defined as Synthetic fiber lining material with characteristics of dynamic adaptibilty (it stretches).

Im thinking a half size down from a 39 (Katana Velcro Size) and it will stretch to a 39ish...

sounds chossy... free returns please

I have katana lace and katana velcro in the same size.
I think the velcro ones fit roughly 1/2 size looser than the lace ups.
The lace ones are a little more downturned/aggressive shape, maybe this is part of why they feel more snug/shorter.

Lace ups are probably my favorite overall shoe, enjoy.

The Katana Lace is a narrow shoe; for me, narrower than Miura Lace and Katana Velcro. When sizing, width was the final determining factor for me, not the length (I had wanted to go 1/2 size smaller). You might want to try a pair on first. If they fit you well, you will find them to be an amazing shoe for thin face and techy climbs.

I wear 43.5 velcro and 44 lace. I am a 11 - 11.5 street shoe. Lace is wider. These shoes dont stretch.

Myself placing a a blue/yellow offset MC to protect between Bolt 2/3 just post crux .

Picture credit goes to eric Singleton, and many thanks to Josh Bagget for the great belay.
i wear a 41.5 miura lace up and in katana lace up...the katana is slightly longer and wider, and rolls around a bit on my foot

i would not say the katana lace is a narrow shoe...the toe box is wide and fits my wide toes well (i have narrow heals) but the laces dont go to the toe so i find that in height (depth of forefoot) i cannot cinch them down as tight and my thin toes roll around

I size my Katana laces 1/2 size up from my velcros and 1/2 size down from my tight TC Pros.

Me, of course
I wear a 46 katana lace and love the crap out of it. A 45 katana velcro is crushingly tight on me, and the 46 seems tight in the toe and sloppy in the heel, for what that info is worth.

I'm at comfy 45 in well worn katana velcro's and a tight (but good) 45 in new katana laces.
