Access Issue: Road closure
Details
As of Augsut 2013, the road L249 from Bad Urach to Sirchingen is closed. Massive rainfalls in spring 2013 caused a large mudslide and damaged the road. The road will probably remain closed until end of 2013.
Description
Perfect in summer. Most of the routes face north and are in the shade. The sun only hits part of the crag in the early morning.
The limestone walls and needles are the home of excellent steep and technical face climbs in the 5.10 to 5.12 (UIAA VI-IX) range. However, some of the ultra classic lines are outstanding crack climbs that can hardly be found anywhere else in the area.
Most routes are single pitch and can be toproped with a 70m rope. Where no anchor is found on the top, exit to the rim and belay from trees. Make sure to bring a couple of nuts and cams for additional pro between the bolts or back up some of the fixed pins.

Getting There
In Bad Urach take B28 and move on to B465 towards Muensingen. Keep right at the next traffic light and take L249 to Sirchingen. 100m before you enter Sirchingen, a small paved road leads to the Schorrenfels parking lot. At the end of the parking lot take follow the gravel road for about 200m to the rim and pick up the yellow marked hiking trail on the left. Follow the trail for about 10 minutes until you reach the rim (park bench). To the right of bench there is a rocky plateau with two rings to rappel to the base of the cliff. Watch out for climbers before you throw your rope.
The base of the cliff can also be approached via a climber's trail. From the rap rings follow the approach trail for roughly 100m and the well worn descent will appear on the right. Take the trail down and walk back along the base of the cliff.
