Silver lake are the bugs bearable this time of year

Be aware Silver lake may have direct sun exposure this time of year. That being said, the one time I went in there the climbing was some of the best in the dacs if you like bolted face routes.

Was out that way about 3 weeks ago and the bugs were awful. Not sure if they would be any better now.

Also it was a fairly cool day and it was still pretty hot on the cliff. Think exposed vertical south facing cliffs.

Some of the best climbing I have done in the ADKs though!

Hey Ed,

The previous posts are correct, regarding the direct sun and heat. The silver lake/Potter Mountain area are cookers.

I was out at Shangri-La and we fried in September...good cold weather climbing.
