Description Suggest change

Located in the southwest part of China, bordering Tibet, Yunnan, and Guizhou provinces, Sichuan is one of the major destinations for multi-pitch trad and big-wall climbing in China. In recent years, peaks in/near the Siguniang Mountains National Park have been the hot spot for new routes and first ascends for local climbers and mountaineering alike. The terrain in Sichuan province is varied and often rugged, offering a true alpine climbing experience. The breathtaking scenery is somehow reminiscent of that of the Tetons in Wyoming, and perhaps the climbing as well.

The Siguniang Mountains National Park is also one of the major ice climbing destinations in China, with nearly a hundred (or more) ice climbs in the Shuangqiao Valley region.

Sichuan province attracts a vast number of tourists all year round. There are major parks that are easily accessible by public transportation, and often crowded. But due to its mountainous terrain and frequent (small) mudslides in more remote areas, there remain many opportunities for a true wilderness experience.
