Description
Shupluy is a small community in the Yungay province across the river from Mancos. It is a nice little crag next to a river, and on a clear day sports views of Huascaran, the highest peak in Peru. The rock is ok to good. The area is secluded but you may attract an audience as the locals walk down the dirt road above and across the river. This is a municipal sport crag put up in 2008. The routes are well protected and the anchors look good. This crag makes for a great outing from Huaraz.
Getting There
In Huaraz? Head over to Andean Kingdom and talk to one of the nice folks there like Luciana or Andreas. They will find a taxi driver that knows the crag and will take you for 50 soles(one way). Or take a cab to Mancos and walk across the bridge to Shupluy, take a left at the plaza(signed) and walk up dirt road. The crag will be down on the right across river. 20 minutes from Mancos. We took a Combi from Mancos to Huaraz when we were done for 5 soles each.
