anybody know if the stream/puddle is flowing? Yes i know its july and too hot to climb there

From the Linville Gorge FB group, posted July 26:
"Shortoff mountain water supply is all but dried up. Gulley pipe is barely damp and the spring tree is just a puddle."

I'm not sure about the puddle on the wolf pit approach though.

T, that pipe that used to be at the top of the descent gully exploded out a couple of years ago. I think they had some massive rain or a wicked freeze thaw. The trail around the pipe is terribly eroded and the wall that it was sticking out of is non-existent. You could probably find some decent runoff in the descent gully. I have never seen that thing completely dry.
