| Hi, my girlfriend and I are coming to California on a little climbing trip. We are looking to find a couple of crags to climb while we are here. We will be spending 7 nights in a RV, touring the southern end of state. Any must-see routes? I am a beginning sport and I climb 5.8-5.9 easily. My girlfriend on the other side, has yet to learn how to lead, so any sport/TR would be great. We have gear to create TR anchors. Any suggestions? | FLAG |

| What time of year are you going to be in cali? the first sport area I thought of was New Jack City, which I've never thought of as a destination spot, but it might be nice to spend a day there if it's on your way. Joshua Tree is a great place to climb, but there are almost no bolts there. If you have trad gear to set a top rope anchor you can probably fill a day playing there too. both of those places are going to be super hot in the summer though so if you specify what month you'll be there, we can have better suggestions on crags. | FLAG |

| Joshua tree has almost 800 sport bolted sport climbs.......Quick draws only with bolted anchors.........climbers just aren't familiar with many of them yet...... | FLAG |

| Colin.... I recomend, baised on your stated skill level, you come and camp- with that RV at Malibu Creek State Park. It has Camping, great top roping at the Apes Wall... very friendly locals who will always offer to share knowlege and a TR. If your feeling "IT" you can go sport climbing at the Stumbling Blocks and some of the other spots within about 400 yards... March here in Southern California can be spectular in the local mts. enjoy | FLAG |

| +1 for Guy Keesee's opinion. I also second the New Jack City option, altough there are no hook ups for an RV or water, so keep that in mind. | FLAG |

| Holcomb Valley near Big Bear, in the San Bernadino Mountains, has a variety of sport routes in a beautiful location. Once the snow has melted there is no problem getting there.
