Word on the street is that this boulder is now permanently closed to climbing! A real loss to JT bouldering...

RTM - what's the reason behind the closure? Plant destruction at the base, native artifacts/petroglyphs nearby? Fist Full of Walnuts is one of my fav's.. A real loss indeed.

I believe that rock art is the reason for the closures. Closures include everything from Block Party all the way around to the problem Shipwreck.
By Trad Nanny Nov 26, 2012
There's a sign on the north side of the boulder declaring that side closed but nothing on the Ship Wreak side.
By RTM Nov 26, 2012
I noticed that also. Good news if thats the case - the superintendants compendium for 2012 states that the whole boulder(both halves)is closed!
By RTM Jan 14, 2013
Looks like the Park Service has moved the sign to over by Block Party, which is where it should be, because thats where the rock art is!
